Featured Project "Locations Map"
The Locations Map is our newest project for Formaggio Cheese. The interactive map features the locations of the stores, where their product is being sold. We've created the option for users to just click on the continent, country, and state and the animation takes them where they wish to go. We are excited to be launching this application in September. Keep checking back for updates. If you want more info on similar applications, please contact me at: fernando@brinteractive.com.

Learning, Working, Living
It has been quite a while since I wrote on my blog, a lot of different activities have gone on this summer that have kept me away from the blogging world. As an update, we've officially finished the centralnewburgh.com page and have started to work with new clients this summer. Isn't it sad that summer is almost gone? Summer is too short, but that is just the way it is up north.
On to other things...
I have found that there is a trend lately of people wanting more things that are "out of the box." With the Web 2.0 era, things started to get really boxy, bloggy and clean; it was a good step away from the busy, symmetry-less, full of crazy flying objects in old websites (example). Well, now things are starting to get back around and I've been challenged lately to get away from the simple, boxy and bloggy type way of doing websites.
I found an interesting link in Noupe (Love them!) and would like to share it with you guys. This tutorial type blog is a little more in the creative side, which is what sticks closest to my heart as a designer.
My favorite solution out of them all is the one above. What if instead of a box, the tob and bottom corner were curved? That is a pretty popular solution for a non-boxy box. Unfortunately, most of these are still pretty boxy, but I guess it is all about dressing them up and making the whole look and feel have some depth. Another list that I enjoyed getting inspired with was the Smashing Magazine article on Bizarre Websites On Which You Can Kill Time With Style.
Anyway, take a look at the link and get inspired.
Enjoy.

::New client:: Central Newburgh
So as of last week I have a new project that will probably be taking most of my next week if all goes well. Landing page only, but here we go: www.centralnewburgh.com
The Central Newburgh Church of God pastor Joaquin Peña has asked me to redesign, promote and develop their new website that will include new brand, videos, mp3 audio messages, podcasts, calendars, blogs, photos, announcements and all kinds of information about more than a dozen groups they have active. I am really excited to be working along a my new partner in crime that will be taking care of title sequences for the presentation videos and assisting me with web site development. I will announce when it has launched. We hope this is a nice piece to include in the portfolio.
Thanks for reading!

Inspiration and other updates...
Where does it come from? What rings the bell? What sets the mood and when is the perfect time? Inspiration is vital part of what we do as creative people. If there's no inspiration, that's like cutting the fingers off of a pianist, wouldn't you agree?
It is what sparks the magic in the creation. Ever wonder where your inspiration comes from and when does that magic happen? It is a mystery to me to this day. My eyes are a big part of this, but also my mind. My influences and daily interactions mark my work in an incredible way.
Speaking of...I am currently gathering information to come up with a new and more bloggy website where I can integrate flickr, blog, twitter and other social networks within the homepage. I want to be able to gather all the information I can and put it in one place. I also want to create more like a resource rather than a one-stop shop.
Other news
I've also "hired" a new web/motion smarty who will help me with the HTML/Video part of projects coming up. I'll do an official welcome in the near future. Good things coming up!
Until then.

An ordinary day...
Today I spent sometime with friends outside the hudson river and shared some good conversations. The weather was nice and it actually was okay to just wear a t-shirt. (hah)
When we turned around the corner to stop by a bench next to the river, I noticed that there was a restaurant and I recognized their logo. I thought to myself, "Hey! There it is! I designed their logo!" I almost wanted to jump out of my casket. I was extremely happy to see how well the logo worked out for their restaurant and how cool it looked on their entrance. I am so happy to have been able to better their website and logo and actually see it from out of the monitor!

Unfortunately, the web doesnt really allow you to see your work displayed or actually experience it in an ordinary day, like walking down a street, at least from my point of view.
There is also a dentistry called "Gentle Dentistry" that I have yet to check out and see how their logo looks on their office. I also designed their logo and website and will probably end up doing my regular dentist visits with them! I make sure I bring my camera. :-D
Design makes the world much easier for people. It clarifies things, but it also makes things harder for people. Thats why it's important to put ourselves in the shoes of the clients and the consumers. Sometimes that is such a hard task! I will try everyday to understand more and more the human interaction, after all, that is the whole reason for doing what we do, that is to serve as a connection for better understanding of a certain product.
