DSLR Cameras: Not Laundry Proof

Ever put your DSLR or P/S camera in your laundry bag? No? Ok, let me put it this way. Ever hidden things due to visitors? Well, don't, you might never see them again. Luckily, some of us do go through our laundry before throwing everything down the wash, since electronics are sadly not waterproof. (I am sure you've gone through the agony of losing something to the laundry monster and then blame it on your mom.)

You'll be glad to know that I did catch the camera before it went down the wash, victoriously happy to save a 2k equipment from being ruined.

I've got three ridiculous suggestions based on personal experience:
  1. Always keep liquids away from electronics, especially iPods. Liquid Damage is NOT part of the warranty agreement.
  2. Ladies, Do NOT put your water bottle in your purse, it may spill and ruin all your gadgets! (it cost me $500!)
  3. Check all your clothes before washing them, pockets for example.
  4. Do NOT let your mother do your laundry. (grow up.)
  5. Do NOT use the laundry bag as an easy hide 'storage box' when people visit. (use your closet instead!)
  6. Do NOT leave the zipper slightly open if you have lenses hanging or cameras that might fit through. (it cost me $600!)
  7. Do NOT hide things in the dishwasher. There's always a green dwarf ready to turn the ON button.
  8. Add Your Own.

Lesson learned.
